The Round Britain eRIB Challenge team has today announced a revised focus for this year, as they dedicate their efforts to supporting their partner boat builder through sea trials for the Challenge vessel. While the full event is now postponed until 2024, due to delays in the production schedule, this shift allows the team to gather comprehensive performance data during extensive sea trials. This valuable information will then be integrated into the planning for next year’s Challenge, enabling the Locations and Meet and Greet teams to publicise a more informed schedule to support this exciting event.

Harry Besley, the 17-year-old skipper for the Round Britain eRIB Challenge, is delighted to announce that FREE STEM resources to accompany his epic journey will be available to download from the website. These will broaden engagement and support within schools, colleges, youth groups and home school educators, enabling a greater understanding of some of the more technical elements of the Challenge.

Harry Besley, skipper for the Round Britain eRIB Challenge, has today actively launched his fundraising campaign. With determination that belies his young age, 17-year-old Harry is looking to secure financial support from sponsors over the coming weeks. This backing will help cover the long list of upfront costs involved in his circumnavigation of Britain in an electric power boat (eRIB) during the summer.

We are delighted to announce that Jotron will be a Silver sponsor for our Round Britain eRIB Challenge project this Summer. Jotron supply an extensive range of Maritime safety communication & search and rescue services products and will be supplying our EPIRB, AIS-SART and Emergency VHF.

The Round Britain eRIB challenge is a not-for-profit event which aims to support the marine industry’s transition to electric propulsion for leisure and small commercial craft. To do this a 17 year old skipper from Taunton, Somerset will attempt to drive an electric boat around Britain in Summer 2023. Setting off from Lyme Regis in Dorset, the team will be using a unique combination of shoreside infrastructure and on-water charging.

Round Britain eRIB has today announced that MDL Marinas will be a Gold sponsor for the challenge. MDL’s support will help 17-year-old skipper, Harry Besley, showcase the challenge RIB during the build up to the event next summer.

Round Britain eRIB can today announce that Lyme Regis will be the host for the Start of the Round Britain eRIB Challenge in Summer 2023.
